Immigrants

In 1938, when President Franklin Delano Roosevelt spoke to the Daughters of the American Revolution, he began: "My fellow immigrants … " With those words, the president underscored our roots.
The Statue of Liberty inscription begins: "Give me your tired, your poor / Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, … " All of us have immigrant roots. Our ancestors traveled over polar ice caps, across rolling seas, or through barren deserts—but we all are links in a long chain of blessings that brought us to this land of great opportunity.
