The Center for Integrity in Business at Seattle Pacific University tackles head-on the real-life challenges faced by business leaders. Drawing on theological and management scholarship, we seek transformation by creating tools, resources, and learning communities that enable businesspeople to lead with greater integrity for shaping a more just and flourishing world. Our online magazine Ethix provides illustrations of business ethics challenges through positive examples of best practices and exemplary leadership.

 

The Work and Faith Collection at the Seattle Pacific University Library explores the theological and practical application of the intersection of the Christian faith in the workplace.  Comprised of over 1600 books, DVDs, and pamphlets, the collection covers topics such as Christian ethics as it relates to business and professional life, the theology of work, vocation and calling, faith economics and business, and faith and the professions. The core of the collection was originally owned by Pete Hammond, who was vice-president-at-large for InterVarsity. A fund for further development of the collection was endowed to honor the lives of Pete and Shirley Hammond and their service as champions for the ministry-in-daily-life movement.

 

The Oikonomia Network is a learning community of theological educators and evangelical seminaries helping pastors equip people for whole-life discipleship, fruitful work and economic wisdom. Its name is derived from the Greek term used in the New Testament to refer to discipleship responsibilities ("stewardship") and also the management of business and the city's public treasury ("economics"). This name embodies the conviction that discipleship to Christ leads us to value human flourishing and work to serve the common good of all our communities. The network affects classes with attendance of over 4,000 students and extracurricular activities with attendance of over 16,000 students annually (learn more about what our partner schools are doing to transform theological education).

 

The vision of the Theology and Development Programme is the increased capacity of Christian leadership in Africa to reflect on and be engaged in social transformation for the public good. The Theology and Development Programme is located within the School of Religion, Philosophy and Classics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) on the Pietermaritzburg campus. Established in the mid-1990s, it offers an exciting Postgraduate programme that draws students from around the world, but especially throughout the African continent, to reflect on issues of social transformation from a Christian theological perspective.

Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, At Work on Purpose is the largest city-wide marketplace ministry in the U.S. The ministry guides working Christians, the local church, and ministry networks to mobilize the work world for Christ. Services include equipping in faith at work, connections to Christian communities in the workplace, and marketplace leadership for city reaching initiatives.

 

 

Denver Institute for Faith & Work is an educational nonprofit based in Denver, Colorado, offering theological education on issues of work, calling and culture. Our goal is to provide a deeper understanding of our work and professions in light of the Christian faith, and to use that knowledge to better serve our organizations, communities and professions. To this end we run a rigorous and selective leadership program for full-time professionals in Denver, events and forums, vocation groups, and partnerships with local churches.

 

Flourish San Diego believes that the kind of discipleship that will lead people to follow Jesus into his work of renewing and restoring humanity and creation is one that must embrace a robust understanding of calling, vocation, and work.  Toward this end, Flourish San Diego works to catalyze a network of churches, called The Flourish San Diego Collective, in San Diego that can continually learn and collaborate in the kingdom work of renewing culture and flourishing our city.  Through the Flourish Collective Academy, they are developing the missiological chops, the theological conviction, and the pastoral practices to lead congregations that seek the common good of the city.

Teen Challenge Southern California provides youth and adults a faith-based solution to life-controlling problems such as drug and alcohol addiction. Programs include an 8-week prison-to-work program co-written by the Theology of Work Project.
