Jazz Band
Transcript
The jazz band is an elegant symbol of both the American spirit—and a good workday. Every jazz band has a leader—but within bounds each musician also has the freedom to improvise. The key is trust: the leader trusts the musicians—and they trust the leader.
At its best, a jazz performance is unique and powerful. At its worst, lack of coordination can change exciting music into raucous noise. Great jazz showcases both individual talent and that group-magic.
This is Howard Butt, Jr. of Laity Lodge with this reminder from a good set of jazz: Individual success flows from working together in the high calling of our daily work.
Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob! Begin the music, strike the tambourine, play the melodious harp and lyre.
