Kahn and Frost

Author Roger Kahn wrote The Boys of Summer and other sports best-sellers, but he hated the “sportswriter” tag. One day, Kahn was sent to interview the famous writer Robert Frost, who said exactly the wrong thing:

“So you’re a sportswriter?”

“Yes,” Kahn sighed, “but I write other things as well.”

“Of course,” Frost said. “When I was young,” Frost told Kahn, “my family worried I would be a pitcher and waste my life. Later they worried I’d be a poet and waste my life.” He flashed a wry smile. “They were right.”
