At Least!

AT LEAST. Those two words show up in too many conversations. Someone will say, "I have my faults, but at least I’m not like so-and-so."

Now there’s a two-word road to a useless point. A person can’t see the truth about himself while aiming his sights at someone worse.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge with hard words from the Apostle Paul. Words I also find encouraging. In Romans, Paul wrote, "Wretched man that I am—who will set me free?" See? He makes no comparisons. He knows he needs freedom. So do I. So do you. So do people around you. We all need to lose the two-word copout. We can AT LEAST do that . . . in the high calling of our daily work.

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?
