The world has flipped upside down—at least as far as job satisfaction. Twenty years ago, if you'd run a survey, 60 percent of Americans would've said they liked their work. Today, nearly 60 percent of Americans DIS-like their work.

What's changed? Is it the money? No, not the money. Control? No, it's not about control either. As it happens, these restless employees say that their work is "uninteresting." Un-interesting. Now, I find THAT interesting.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Maybe we need more interesting workdays. Or maybe, if we gave 100 percent to our jobs, we’d get more back. Here’s a challenge: this week, work as if your job mattered and see if it doesn’t raise your interest . . . in the high calling of our daily work.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
