“How Does Your Work Serve Others?” - Leigh McLeroy
It can be easy to think of work in terms of deliverables: time spent, projects completed, deadlines met. Usually the purpose of our places of work is characterized by the bottom line. Business is, after all, about making a profit.
But is that the whole story? How can we think differently about the ways that our work impacts our communities? The answer might be found in relationships; the people we work with and for, or the people we serve.

TRANSCRIPT: A lot of my work involves helping people tell their stories. And, I don't think there is anything richer than that. That's a really intimate undertaking to walk with somebody to tell their story and I love that. I see that it matters to them. I honestly in my heart believe that every single person has a story to tell that no one else can tell.
So, I think it serves people in that way and also I think anytime I do create something that rings true . . . there's a line from an Andrew Peterson song that I love. He says, "The thing resounds when it rings true, ringing all the bells inside of you." When you hit that sweet spot in your work, you know it. And, you hear the bells ring and other people hear them too.
